COVID19 * MARRAKECH TOURISM INDUSTRY IS AWAITING…

Small update about Morocco and tourism: … in fact there isn’t really any! The borders are closed and Marrakech continues to wait for the reopening of the borders to tourist travelers.

The news we have received today, is that the state of sanitary emergency is maintained until September 10th, 2020.  No announcement until now regarding tourism in the country.

And, yes, if you look for flights online you will find a few, but they exist for the repatriation of Moroccan residents or to let out foreign nationals who were stuck in Morocco so that they can return to their countries.

Moreover, 8 cities in Morocco have been closed to any entry or exit since July 29: Tangier, Tetouan, Fez, Meknes, Casablanca, Berrechid, Settat and Marrakech. These bans were put in motion just before Aid el-Kebir in order to avoid massive trips into the country for the most important family celebration of the year.

Hotels, riads, airlines and all other tourism players are therefore still on hiatus. Everyone is hoping for a reopening for September.

Next government news may be on August 10, 2020, day until the state of health emergency was extended.

In the meantime, nothing prevents you from planning your next trip because this situation will definitely end in the near future, right?
